This September, we’re delighted to be taking part in Perthshire Open Studios for the first time! Now in its eleventh year, the annual nine-day event offers art lovers the opportunity to visit the studios and workshops of local creators. From Saturday 1st September to Sunday 9th September, artists and makers throughout Perthshire, Kinross-Shire and neighbouring counties will be throwing open their doors and inviting you in.
For a limited time, we at Curious Egg will be creating a temporary gallery space within our office studio for you to come and visit. We love taking part in art fairs and pop-ups – as an online store, we don’t often get the chance to meet our customers face to face. Perthshire Open Studios offers an exciting opportunity for us to meet you all and for you to view our artworks up close and personal in a relaxed setting.
Our ethos is all about breaking down the barriers to learning about art and buying high-quality original pieces for your home – that’s why we created the Art Room! We want to tell the stories of the artist behind the work so you can connect with them and understand their personal inspiration, techniques and the materials they use.
As a practising artist for more than twenty years, Lorraine can attest to the value of visiting an artist and viewing their work in person. Perusing an online collection may be more easily accessible, but first-hand experience, being able to study the hand worked surfaces and layers of an artwork up close is a totally different animal. Come along to chat with our artists and learn more about their creative process or ask Lorraine any questions you might have about her ‘art-first’ approach to interiors. An abundance of tea, coffee and cakes will also be provided so there’s no excuse!
To all of our lovely readers visiting the area, we would love to meet you! Grab a guide, create your very own art trail and explore undiscovered corners of the Scottish landscape along the way. From Kinross to Kenmore, Pitlochry to Perth, Open Studios Scotland showcases the diverse talents of individual makers and the creativity of local communities.
