Renowned artist Kiki Slaughter is from Charlottesville, VA and currently lives and works in Atlanta from her crumbling studio in a 19th century cotton gin factory. Her work is an with the fundamental process of painting. She is inspired to paint but the very act of painting – her method is in fact her muse! Kiki is also very inspired by her visual surroundings thus her work often evokes the places she has lived and visited. She strives to interpret and record her impressions of the world around her through her use of colour and texture. Although her works are entirely abstract, each piece holds subtle characteristics from its source of inspiration.

The Oh La La wallpaper displays the experimental, organic and textural nature of Slaughter’s art. To create this piece, which was originally a triptych of canvases, she poured, scraped, layered and otherwise manipulated paint on the canvas to create a wallpaper that is rich in both colour and texture. We love the fact it like having a giant abstract painting on your wall full of energy and movement!
