Contour is a beautiful figurative study in which the human body is depicted as a landscape of subtle changing tones in delicate layers of pastel chalks. It gives this drawing a velvety texture that is suggestive of skin itself . A gentle work with subtle melancholic mood.

Kane McLay graduated in 2017 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee Scotland with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Taught under the renowned artist and playwright John Byrne, Kane was awarded the John Kinross Scholarship to Florence, Italy. Kaneโs work is at its simplest, an intense study of the magnificent โmachineโ that is the human body but look closer and the inky, awkward marks and jarring lines make it just possible to access the โanimalโ that exists within all of us.
